Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Hanson has been a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies since 1987, and was hired to a full-time position in 1990. While he has been at Fullerton College, Dr. Hanson has taught sections of Philosophy 100F, 100HF, 101F, 105F, 105HF, 170F, 200F, 201F, 202F, 270F, and 299F.

Dr. Hanson has also been involved in a number of administrative activates, including serving as the Honors Program Co-Coordinator. Dr. Hanson's efforts and unique teaching style have not gone unnoticed, as he has been a recipient of the FC Teacher of the Year awarded.

Dr. Hanson's dissertation was an epistemological study of religious/mystical experience, focusing primarily on Sankara and Meister Eckhart. Dr. Hanson's area of focus for his M.A. in Philosophy was Aristotle, and his thesis was on Aristotle's notion of change, especially transformation or qualitative change.

Areas of Interest:

Dr. Hanson's areas of interest and expertise include comparative religion, the philosophy of religion, mystical experience, and Asian thought, particularly Chinese philosophy.
